Dynamiting and drilling through the mountains to Ourense. To witness this construction was awe inspiring. One of the keys to these fast trains is making a straight shot as turns slow you down. The other key is minimizing the ascent and descent. Both are really difficult to do going through the multiple sets of mountains in Galicia.
Of course the trekking was impacted. Most of it was on the road with little waymarking. At least it didnt rain!
